Dr. Lewis, who was the first Assistant Dean and Director of Latino Affairs at Indiana University, has been an administrator and/or faculty/consultant at Brown University (Education Lecturer, Administrator), Gallaudet University, Immaculata University, Temple University, Central Community College, Delaware Technical and Community College, Springfield College, Wilmington University, Governor's State University, the University of Delaware, and Delaware State University.
Dr. Lewis successfully litigated and desegregated an Evanston, Illinois neighborhood and won a race/ethnic discrimination lawsuit against the Department of Public Instruction (Delaware Department of Education), State of Delaware. He was the first Latino employed by the Delaware Department of Education and the first Panamanian admitted, on scholarship, to the United States controlled Canal Zone College, Republic of Panama.
Dr. Lewis previously taught Spanish at Middletown High School and is an Adjunct Associate Professor of Spanish and Graduate Education at Delaware State University. He has also been a high school Guidance Counselor and Spanish teacher at several other schools in Delaware and Chicago.
